Spanish security enters Formula 1: Puertas Padilla manufactures more than 500 doors for MADRING

The Spanish company has produced more than five hundred fire, technical and high-security doors for Madrid’s new Formula 1 circuit, including 375 fire doors distributed across the venue and 165 additional doors for various facilities within the complex.

Speed will be measured in thousandths of a second. Safety, long before the lights go out. Puertas Padilla will be part of MADRING, Madrid’s new Formula 1 circuit, having manufactured more than 500 fire, technical and high-security doors for the venue’s various installations. The project places the Spanish company behind one of the most significant sporting and infrastructure events Madrid hosts this year. Of the total supplied, 375 units are fire doors manufactured for different points around the circuit. These are joined by 165 additional doors intended for various spaces and facilities across the complex, including the VIP and hospitality areas. In total, the supply comprises 540 doors — the 375 fire doors and the 165 additional doors — along with other technical and high-security solutions developed to meet MADRING’s specific requirements.

MADRING will host the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix from 11 to 13 September 2026, marking the World Championship’s return to Madrid after more than four decades. The new layout, approximately 5.4 kilometres long with 22 corners, combines street and permanent sections around IFEMA MADRID and is set to become one of the capital’s great international showcases. In an infrastructure conceived around concepts such as speed, technology and the spectator experience, there is another, less visible but essential dimension: the protection of people and spaces. That is where Puertas Padilla comes in.

The company’s fire doors form part of the compartmentation and protection of different areas of MADRING, while the additional doors and the rest of its technical solutions respond to the particular needs of specific spaces within the complex. A combination that reflects the company’s specialisation in projects where design, functionality and demanding safety requirements must coexist within a single infrastructure.

A growing presence in Madrid

But it is precisely in Madrid that the MADRING project takes on special significance for Puertas Padilla. The company has spent years taking part in some of the capital’s most recognisable works and infrastructure. Its doors feature in the renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, where it has supplied fire-protection solutions designed to meet the venue’s demanding compartmentation and evacuation requirements.

They are also part of cultural buildings such as the Museo Nacional del Prado and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, as well as the Canalejas Complex, where the company has supplied fire and high-security doors. To this presence are added essential infrastructures such as the Madrid-Chamartín Clara Campoamor Station and healthcare facilities such as the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital. At Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, Puertas Padilla has taken part in Terminal 4 and in the refurbishment and new facilities of Terminal 2, and is currently working on new supplies linked to its expansions, consolidating its presence in a city that has become one of the company’s great showcases.

MADRING now adds a new name to that particular geography of security.

From Madrid to the world

MADRING’s arrival is not, however, Puertas Padilla’s first contact with the top tier of motorsport. The company has previous experience at the Hungaroring, the Budapest circuit that has hosted the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix since 1986, for whose facilities it supplied fire and security doors. The new Madrid project thus reinforces an international track record that has taken the company’s solutions to more than 60 countries, with more than 500,000 fire doors manufactured, nine operating sites and almost four decades dedicated to the manufacture of protection and security solutions. Its footprint can be found in infrastructures and buildings of very different kinds: from the Panama Canal or Taipei 101 to the Chernobyl sarcophagus, international airports, metro networks, hospitals, museums and major sports venues.

Because when the cars exceed 300 kilometres per hour and millions of spectators look towards Madrid, much of the infrastructure that makes the spectacle possible will remain out of shot. More than 500 doors manufactured by Puertas Padilla will be there to fulfil precisely that function: to make safety the protagonist.

Speed, innovation and security thus come together on a single track. And this time, security bears a Spanish stamp.
